Aronimink Golf Club
Commitment To Be One Of The Finest
Aronimink Golf Club is a private Platinum Golf Club located just outside of Philadelphia in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. The Club has a rich history dating back to 1896.
In 1926, Aronimink acquired 300 acres in Newtown Square and commissioned Donald Ross to design the historical golf course. On Memorial Day of 1928, the Club moved into the current clubhouse.
Our History
The corner of 52nd Street and Chester Avenue was the birthplace of the Belmont Golf Association, an outgrowth of Belmont Cricket Club. In December of 1896, this patch of southwest Philadelphia was little more than a pale green meadow.
A handful of cricketers led by Harrison Townsend laid out a few rudimentary golf holes here.

Founded in 1896, Aronimink has hosted a number of significant golf events during its storied history, including the 1962 PGA Championship (won by Gary Player), the 1977 U.S. Amateur (John Fought) and the 2003 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship (John Jacobs).
Aronimink is set to host the 2026 PGA Championship, which will coincide with the United States semiquincentennial celebration, and marks the 250th anniversary of America’s founding in 1776 in Philadelphia.
